#WritersCoffeeClub 11: Have you ever felt overwhelmed by a work of fiction?

No, because before I get overwhelmed I put the book down and walk away from it, never to return.

I'm not a professional critic, reviewer, or teacher: I don't have to put up with stupid shit in my fiction habit.

(EXCEPTION: I regularly feel overwhelmed by stuff I'm trying to write, but that's entirely self-inflicted and by the time it's ready for publication it's fixed.)

Been dumping a few more than usual lately. Why read stuff that's not interesting to you? Not like I'm going to be quizzed on it later.
Some sound good, like SF, but I just can't get my head around their writing style...so I give up.
I really like books with plots for instance, and books that explain what a device they keep mentioning is, or does, and not 3/4 way through the novel. Same for characters.
