Out of a toot about images loading super slow in Mastodon this morning came the idea to build automatic shrinking of assets (images, later maybe videos, too) right into the server.
I'm interested in doing that, but not familiar with any of the tech stack used in Mastodon. So, 1st step, I logged a feature request: https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/35737
Does anybody have any great tips on how I could start?
