Yesterday I wrote to my MP raising my concerns (again) about the proscription of Palestine Action.

I would urge you (if you live in the UK) to do the same.

As you know I was disappointed that you voted in support of the proscription of Palestine Action. The proscription under the Terrorism Act has now been used to arrest over 600 peaceful demonstrators in the last couple of weeks, including over 400 in London yesterday. This is not a good use of scarce police time & effort, nor it seems to me an appropriate use of legislation intended to be used against terrorists & their enablers, not peaceful protestors. As my MP I am requesting that you contact Yvette Cooper to convey that this is both anti-democratic & is bringing the government into disrepute.

The fact that pensioners are protesting because they know that people with jobs can't protest for fear of losing their livelihoods is if anything a darker indictment on the government than the initial act of banning peaceful protests.

Yes, well said. I saw one person interviewed who said they were protesting because as a retired person they had nothing to lose… in other words they know how vindictive their govt can & will be. A terrible situation. 😐

Both climate, the Palestine situation and the raising cost of living are issues that deeply trouble me. But if I am to join protests it may end with me being kicked out of the country. The sad part is being treated like a criminal for caring about the country and society. This is called repression
