I do wish they wouldn't put the local veg in those stupid litre baskets. Let me pick how many I want and then charge me by the gram. I really want to get Ontario carrots, but not by the litre, they aren't a liquid! I want to pick my own so I know I am getting the amount we will eat - and so there aren't a couple of bad ones in there! The same with potatoes. The ones that are loose are the USA ones. Nectarines? In a box! Only the youngest eats them and won't eat an entire box! The loose ones are, yup, USA. I find the same at farmers markets. Stop putting everything in groups! Let me get the amount I know I will use.
The city is doing a food waste campaign right now... maybe if Supermarkets stopped forcing us to buy bags of things there wouldn't be as much waste?

@LibraryAndTea@ottawa.place I also find that when a vegetable or fruit is sealed tight behind plastic, it's because they don't want you to know it's nearly rotten or has substantial damage... Can't see it / smell it when it's wedged between styrofoam and triple-wrapped in cling wrap.
