I'm so confused. Due to the war in Gaza, Australia is preparing to recognise a state of Palestine. Gaza is ruled by Hamas. Said state is governed by the Palestinian Authority and not by Hamas. The PA's president Mahmoud Abbas has declared that Hamas should free the hostages/captives and stand down. They won't.
So this all helps the people of Gaza how exactly?
