If customers want non fossil energy sources, theyβll end up buying them somewhere, why arenβt the fossil energy companies making the switch to sell those?

@ShadSterling@mastodon.social theyβre trading privately stranded assets. The moment they pivot their assets are publicly stranded. And all of capitalism with it.
Capitalism is adding renewables, made with coal, transported into place with oil. It does not know how to retire the enabling base resource. In part because it has made essentially no effort to decarbonise manufacturing. And people want a painful transition to an imaginary future made pain free
