Fun fact! Woodpeckers’ tongues wrap around their brain to cushion it from the hammering of their eponymous (often incessant) favorite hobby.


(I wonder if the old saying “To a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.” was originally “To a woodpecker, everything might have grubs in it unless you double/triple/…sextuple check”, or similar. They’re like feathered, flinchy toddlers, exploring the world one possibly-edible object at a time… all the time. 😅)
