I'm sure that's a shot in the dark, but if you happen to know a standalone wayland compositor that is NOT based on wlroots, lemme knyow pwease 
There's miracle that I knyow of, but it's not ready yet.
Edit: Please don't know recommend hyprland. I know the project well enough to not want anything to do with it.
