According to the source, it's false that Andre was too big for the school bus. Samuel Beckett sometimes drove him (and other kids), because there was no school bus at all.
Beckett just took kids on the flat back of his truck when he passed them walking to or from school. There were generally no bus to/from school and Samuel Beckett took several children whether they were Andre the Giant or not - when he took some.
And apparently he did not drive just for the purpose of transporting the kid(s).
