We're not too lazy to invest. We're too poor. You have to be already rich to invest in those income generating assets. It's like if the rules of the game were changed so that three players started normally and then one was given a ton of get out of jail free cards and 30% of the cash in the entire box right at the start and everyone else starts with a negative balance (have to pay off the vehicles and such needed to actually travel the board.) That one person just spends the whole time going around buying everything before everyone else can even get out of the negative.
