No, I'm not outraged.
I'M TIRED
I've spent the last chunk of my life in outrage
warning people
advising
helping
sacrificing
talking
meeting
conversing
converting
mindfully acting
rightfully going about my business.
making community
making friends
making companions
and and and and and and
and who listened. Only the same people
I've surrounded myself with
Meanwhile I see neighbors
walking around blindfolded to injustice,
asleep in complacency,
content in a lie that
they'll never be under the panopticon
And I slog along, my friends slog along
in a nation that cares only
for it's own reflection in the pond
while we clean the swamp
that was to be drained
a decade ago
and we are tired
tired of not being listened to
tired of not being taken seriously
tired of being tired
of being tired
and yet we persist
we crawl
hand and knees bloodied and scarred
because we have to
because no one else will
because of the broken promises
because of the bloody hands and knees
we keep moving
not because we have to
no because we want to
it's because
we know no other way.
