Evening monsoon storm has veiled Sierra Blanca behind and in sheets of rain.

These monochrome images are infrared, which makes the conifers look bright, as if they were covered in snow.

The summit of Sierra Blanca is hidden behind veils and sheets of falling rain of a monsoon thunderstorm. The bottom of the storm cloud is textured and darkly dramatic. The conifers appear bright because this was taken in near infrared. Evening sun is shining on the distant terrain...the flanks of the peak, and a small patch of rolling terrain in front of the peak's flanks. The rest of the terrain is in shadow. A closer view of the first photo. The veils and sheets of falling rain have a delicate texture, but this is a powerful thunderstorm that is dumping lots of rain.
