Uh, what....there's no incorrect translation, the English spelling of it is fodder, they have the same meaning and the same old English/Germanic roots.
If these are prey animals that are going to be put down anyways it seems perfectly sensible, do people on twitter not realize where meat comes from?

It sounds weird, but then... better than putting your pet in a shelter while somebody has to kill a pig or cow to feed the zoo animals...?
