@krypt3ia@infosec.exchange because it is bullshit!
There's no shortage of
#IT experts, but a shortage of jobs that pay a living wage (even more paying a competitive one!) and a shortage of employers that ain't full of shit!

@kkarhan@infosec.space @krypt3ia@infosec.exchange Depends on what you call an IT expert. I think of someone strong across multiple domains, not just a narrow specialty. OECD and IDC both show demand for advanced IT skills growing 2 - 3Γ— faster than supply, costing trillions in lost productivity.

With everything from cars to coffee machines going digital, the shortage is real and getting worse.

@watchfulcitizen@goingdark.social @krypt3ia@infosec.exchange that doesn't change the fact that this is a self-inflicted problem in many cases, like #Germany.
There's no valid reason why
#cursive #writing is mandated but not #typing or god forbid actual #TechLiteracy being taught!

I had exactly
0 hours of CS classes in school!

@kkarhan@infosec.space @krypt3ia@infosec.exchange that's a very good point! The school system is so slow it's scary. It's made for working in a factory 150 years ago.

If it wasn't legally forced on us by our
#government in sweden I would probably home school.

@watchfulcitizen@goingdark.social @krypt3ia@infosec.exchange Yeah...
Same with
#Germany, abeit for Swedish-languaged folks moving to Γ…land is considered the hack to do that.

Thank the
#EU for that #FreedomOfMovement and #FreedomOfResidency!

@watchfulcitizen@goingdark.social

@kkarhan@infosec.space @krypt3ia@infosec.exchange yeah I've heard of that.

I'm wondering why we force it. Is it to be able to provide education for all. Or is it to control the narrative?

@watchfulcitizen@goingdark.social @krypt3ia@infosec.exchange IDK the argument on the swedish side.
#Germany does argue with children having a #RightToEducation and 'not being able to consent' having that taken away from them, with the only groups whining about it internationally being affiliated with #Christofacists that don't want their children to be taught things they dislike.

Given the fact that Germany does demand private schools to
meet if not exceed the standards in education quality, training and pay of public schools and having school exams standardized on a per-state level the core idea is sound.
My main problem is that the system is severely neglected, ableist, discriminatory and needs more investment and positive changes.
