@Rasta@mstdn.ca Morning to you too, I noticed that the sun went up at 02:25 in Pond Inlet, the night length there seems to fit your sleep pattern a lot better 😃
@aho@mastodon.social I went to bed later. I was ready much earlier, worn out from being up all night previous but the tide was still up and I am filling my wife's pool. I had to stop the pumping in the dark and will resume on the morning tide. I finally caught that damned groundhog but I had a beer and couldn't drive him last night. It was evening and my neighbour had a drink too, so he couldn't drive me, so I will do that deed myself at first light
@Rasta@mstdn.ca did you share the beer with the hog?
Myself didn't get a full night myself either, the sun light and neighbors radio didn't help when trying to sleep.
@aho@mastodon.social I have a busy head. Light doesn't bother me, and radio would not. Smells and odd sounds will keep me awake in anxiety.
I've been trialing medical cannabis to correct it
@Rasta@mstdn.ca myself too much time spent in military tents, where you always had to be ready for some kind of action has made me quite sensitive to some kinds of noises, light. Of course the lutheran poisoned expectation that works starts early in the morning hasn't been a good thing for evening people...

When you are at sea, you are your own 911. Several hard sea trades are cross-trained in Advanced First Aid, Fire and Flood response. We are our own fire dept. You know the smell of the whole ship. If something smells odd, something bad is about to happen. Sound of water, steam or air leaking or running in a pipe, will bring me to my feet and ready to respond in minutes. Phone rings in the evening, same thing. I get alarmed easily. My cousin and husband, he was my best man, came in my yard when I had my headphones on.
He threw pebbles at me until I turned around. He was scared to touch me, not knowing how I might respond if surprised.
Sometimes, when others don't react the way I do to sounds and smells I get angry. And this kind of stuff goes through my head all night, keeping me awake. And the lyrics of the Country song, "Buy Dirt"
@Rasta@mstdn.ca for the phone you could do like me, I have the don't-disturb mode after 21:00, if it's important they will call again, if they don't then it wasn't important.
@aho@mastodon.social I don't answer it, it goes to the machine, but the ring bothers me.. especially if it is a scammer. I have no cellular, it's our house phone and with monitoring answering machine. No message ,no call back, or don't call back
@Rasta@mstdn.ca ah, you just need someone to pull if of the socket in the evening and who also remembers to reattach it to the socket in the morning...
So no point in asking me, I would forget it the first night already
@aho@mastodon.social There's settings on the machine that I would not hear a ring or message. It's just the last option at niht
