How unsettling it is that multitudes of this nation’s self-proclaimed “patriots” proudly commemorate traitors who rose up against this very Union to which they, too, had sworn allegiance. THEIR ANCESTORS, whose “bravery” they celebrate, fought to keep Black and Brown people — MY ANCESTORS among them — enslaved.
Fuck the antebellum South, the Confederacy, and the clowns who romanticize them.
