The young of the "coua cristata" bears a phosphorescent mark that glows in the dark inside his mouth. This helps the parents feed them since they make the nest at the bottom of deep dark holes in hollow trees so that they're not seen or heard by predators. This protects the chicks and helps parents see them. That mark disappears when the chick reaches adulthood.
