@EugestShirley@m.ai6yr.org @kaipyroami@infosec.exchange So random question... are these giant spools usable on a machine? Obviously, can put them on my home made thread stand, but curious about the 1000-yard spools. (seriously considering shelling out for one of these Gutterman collections of threads and be done with it LOL....$50 or $100 and probably never have to buy thread again)

I buy thread as I need it. But then, I also have a wide collection of random colors going back to my my grandmother.
Skip the tempting collection of every color. When will you need chartreuse or lilac?
Start by buying multiple spools of basic colors.
Black
White
Navy
Gray
Beige
Tan
Brown
Muted green — sage, olive, army
Red
For you, safety yellow and orange might be a basic.
A close color match is good enough. An exact match is needed only if you are making stitches seen from the outside. Top-stitching, tacking, making buttonholes or sewing on buttons.
Regular sewing thread comes in different size spools too. Buy the larger of the spools of your type if they sell them where you shop.
