Then I'm deeply concerned that BOTH Batel and La'an are going to be fridged.
A fan theory circulating via an article commenting that Batel was doing the "TOS slow Gorn shuffle" (& the chimera thing) implies that Batel may be turned INTO the TOS Gorn. There aren't any hints of La'an being fridged for Spock, but it may happen given that we know TOS Spock was completely emotionless.

Dang it birdproof those are exactly my concerns. I dig the complete fan-service of the series, and Mr. Mount's hair is a character all unto itself. (Helps that he's easy and fun to watch) Ms. Romjin is doing something pretty interesting. And Ms. Ross is playing the enthusiasm with brains and the brains with enthusiasm.
But Spock and the Gorn are icebergs we're sailing straight into. And my denial isn't working so well.
