PSA: if you're on a railway crossing in a car and the gates come down because a train is coming, please just drive through the gate. You'll probably break it, you'll probably scratch your paint, and that's your fault for not noticing the warnings sooner (assuming they weren't defective), but that's a million times better than your vehicle getting hit by the train.
This is coming to after I saw a video of a van driver trying (and failing) to get off the tracks without driving through the barriers, and their truck ended up being hit by the train. Luckily nobody was injured.
