We absolutely should tax billionaires out of existence to preserve the integrity of our democracies, but these people know they have access to a money-printing* machine and don't care if they crash the US economy (both Trump and Musk said so explicitly) further enriching themselves. Hence Trump wanting more control over the Fed.
* This is anachronistic as the vast amount of money in the economy today is digitally created with taps on a keyboard.
