Higher ed tech programs have been having a huge problem the last 5 or so years with students coming in lacking basic computer skills. I blame it on Chromebooks and social media (not needing tech skills for customization). At the same time, we're seeing a small group of students more advanced than ever... but dealing with that dichotomy is extremely challenging.
I'm kind of hoping that pirating will provide enough incentive for kids to have to learn those skills again.

@nerdpr0f@infosec.exchange Not expected but not surprised now that you share the observation. It would make sense. I understand that itβs a thing that many CompScoi students enter college without understanding things like file folder structures and such? Is that what youβre describing at some level?
