I have a friend who cannot send just one message. And then I get 6 or 7 messages at a few seconds interval make my watch vibrate and ping. She can't seem to comprehend how absolutely sodding annoying this is but every time I bring it up, she gets in a sulk with me about it for being rude.

and also understand the mind that needs to think by writing out loud as it goes (hi mom). there should be a device or app setting to squash buzzes from same sender within x-secs or minutes

Oddly enough my phone got an Android update recently which added a new option under Notifications:

Screenshot of Android 16 settings screen, text reads Notification cooldown When you receive many notifications within a short time, your device will lower its volume and minimise alerts for up to 1 minute. Calls, alarms and priority conversations are not affected. Notifications received during the cooldown can be found by pulling down from the top of the screen.
