Hey aren't responding to logic because hey are using base emotion to decide things. Lower life forms respond to fear or hunger. That kind of thinking leads to bad strategy.

Your rivals were stupid enough to forget to give you a way out or a carrot to chase. That was their big mistake. If you have no way out you have to fight, which always erodes their resources. They expect to have some resistance, but there was no right to resist in Europe in the 1920s/30s. There is one in the U.S.A. As Thomas Jefferson said, people shouldn't be afraid of their governments.

You have to make this moment the moment where they find out they aren't ready to just bowl you over. If things are much harder than they think you can teach them a hard-earned lesson about playing well with others. No matter the results that is the kind of thinking that ultimately helps the whole population.
