Why do dogs do this? Every dog I ever had lay this way.

A tan medium sized Pitbull lays on a dog bed with his head hanging off the side onto the floor. Next to him is another dog, white legs and gray brindle body are on the dog bed. They are laying in a sunspot, and on the floor is the shadow of a house plant.
