Just making it easier to say, "people over this age shouldn't read this book" and what are people over 35 supposed to read? Obviously there should be a distinction between kids and adults books for things like language, violence and themes, but I think that's about all you need.

@Fragglemuppet@fandom.ink Adults absolutely can read any of the books you listed, it's more to make sure kids have a suitable genre for them to find easily. 8 year olds and 14 year olds might read very different kind of books, or they might be like I was at 14 and already move to the adult section. Kids can read whatever they want to, too, but the age listings help find things that are more likely to be suitable for them.
