The UK's Jimmy Savile was called out as far back as 1978 by Johnny Rotten, but to shield the predatory paedophile, was subject to legal threats by the BBC and the segment was never aired.
The Sex Pistols were subsequently banned by BBC Radio for some time for "contentious behaviour".
