The funniest thing about Texas trying to rig the vote to get 5 more red seats in Congress is that these dipshits truly have been huffing their own fumes. I honestly believe that they have absolutely no idea how many people actually live in blue states. All they see is that one map that colors in huge swaths of empty farmland red.
The thing is, red states have already gerrymandered most of that farmland into oblivion and now there's just no more juice to wring from it. Meanwhile blue states have been mostly playing by the rules and creating district maps that more or less reflect accurately the varied nature of their voters, or even favoring the red voters slightly in the interest of avoiding even the appearance of bias.
But look if Texas wants to get down in the mud and play dirty, blue states absolutely DO NOT HAVE TO DO THIS, nor SHOULD THEY. It would be trivial to redraw the maps of California, New York, and Illinois to gain 20-23 seats, and that's without even gerrymandering a single one. If we get down in the muck with them and play dirty, we could easily add 30-40 seats or more by giving the Texas treatment to those three PLUS the states of Washington, Oregon, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, Minnesota, Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia.
So look, Texas. What you're doing is shitty. But if you really want to fuck around and play this game, go right ahead. We'll win.

@Lana@beige.party What really grinds my gears is that they're not supposed to be doing any of this. The legislative session is over.
They're in special session right now for the purpose of doing something about the flooding issues. So what are they doing about the flooding issues? Further gerrymandering the already absurdly districted state and trying to ban trans people from bathrooms.
I would love to see one of those assholes explain to me with a straight face how either of those things is going to protect the people of Texas from the next flash flood.
Unless by "flood" they mean the inevitable blue wave...
