@cR0w@infosec.exchange @ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org I'm hoping they crater in price so it gets a bit cheaper to do something like this: https://speedhut.com/news/teslaswapped-nissan-350z-the-specs/

Of course where I live, the engineering certification work is probably going to vastly outweigh the cost of the Tesla components already so it's largely irrelevant, but it does make me smile every time I see used Teslas go down in price.

@fwaggle@moodoo.org @ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org I've been waiting for that to become a trend in street rods.

@cR0w@infosec.exchange @ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org It's going to rule. I love me a good RWD pushrod V8 but four wheel, torque vectoring, electric torque from zero in a car that doesn't look like a fucking cyst with panel gaps and a giant touch screen for everything including the hazard lamps sounds incredible too.

@fwaggle@moodoo.org @ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org I don't get why it hasn't happened yet. I remember talking to folks at Good Guys shows 20+ years ago about it but no one seems to actually be doing it.

@cR0w@infosec.exchange @ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org I think it's because the majority of folks with the mechanical skills to do it find the idea offensive still. Some of it might be economics but yeah.

Same like rock crawlers though - gotta jump through hoops to not starve an ICE of various fluids at the "if I scratch my left armpit this thing is going to fall over" angle, electric would be perfect for that but AFAIK no one's doing electric repowers on 4x4s either.

@fwaggle@moodoo.org @ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org That is super cool but I don't think it's $292k cool.
