Since PixelDailies' theme two days ago was "chocobo", I have Final Fantasy on my mind.
A deep cut—Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (Mystic Quest Legend). A game that I started and didn't finish—I was finding it too easy for my liking. But alas, I am feeling the pull to give it another try. It's music is good. Here's a cover for its forest theme, by #OrchestralFantasy

From my understanding of Mystic Quest, it has some cool ideas going for it, but it was also designed to be an entry point into the world of JRPGs for Western audiences.

Little things like boss enemy sprites changing as their HP reaches certain thresholds.
Gaining weapons and tools that can be used in the overworld.

All these sound like neat ideas, and I am surprised we didn't see more of that in other Final Fantasy games
