Zac Polanski, running to be head of the Green Party:

'My key message to Jeremy Corbyn is '‘join the Green party,”... The people we’re fighting against are the 1%, and it’s about unifying the 99% in recognising that it’s corporations & the super-rich who are destroying our environment, our communities & our democracy'!

He wants to appeal to people's anger & frustration with the current political class (the agents of austerity) & lead a political reformation of the UK.

This is the first really worrying thing I've heard from Zac Polanski - it is the classic old-fashioned identikit politician's response to adjacent politicians - not 'let's work together for the common good', but 'help build my empire'.

Although, this may be an issue of being in a leadership race, where growing party membership might well be a key issue.... given his previous remarks which imply a sort of leftist popular front I'm thought I'd give him a pass on that this morning.... but I can see your point too

Given the UK's recent experience with Starmer, I'm wary of that 'I'd better say this to win the leadership' attitude.
