One of the challenges of doing planned isolations and having come through them without infection, is that it’s easy to slip into the presumption that each isolation will be just as successful. For me, that means questioning whether I really need so much stored water and food supplies. The answer is always Yes, I do really need so much because we’re preparing for worst case while expecting best case.

There’s also the matter of wiggle room in what I am permitted to break my seal for. I am only willing to open the door during isolation in the event of passing along any medication that may get delivered from the pharmacy. My own whims and whatnot must be able to be sated within my isolation chamber.

Which is why I spend the days leading up to planned isolation going β€œjust one more thing” and pulling stuff out of my closet or my craft supplies stash. What if there’s a fancy dress party in my isolation chamber?!

Getting word that solo fancy dress party in my isolation chamber is being cancelled in favour of James Garner movie festival nite. Phew!

Ticked all the boxes on my isolation preparation checklist and now waiting until the last possible moment to seal myself up.

This the start of several planned isolations in short succession (we hope). Which means there will be a bunch of Pluslife result reports this month and maybe there are points where I can briefly unseal from isolation.

Brought a zucchini out thinking it would be okay without refrigeration, but the heat predicted for this week motivated me to go ahead chop it up and use it. Here’s a hastily-planned zucchini mushroom ramen with spring herb Italian dressing.

Dumped a can of mandarin oranges on salad confetti. Paired well with the less than photogenic grilled cheese sandwich I also made on my mini waffle iron.

Combined cucumber, roasted garlic seaweed snack, and ramen with a ginger vinaigrette. A pleasant dish for a hot summer evening.

A colourful tribute to corn. Canned chicken + canned corn medley + Caesar dressing + blue corn chips.

My favourite solo meal is nachos but have neither the shelf-stable ingredients nor the heating elements to make it, so it’s no cook not-chos tonight.
