I recall my first fishing experiences when I was a child, sitting on the bank with a pole a like and a bobber. It was fun and exciting putting a worm on a hook and pulling out a fish, usually a little blue gill. We'd go home with a batch to be fried up later. Cleaning them was a chore. Now when I think about it, I feel a tinge of guilt. I'd pretty much killed two living creatures just for fun each time I cast a line. Sure, we usually ate the fish, but the point is, I didn't go fishing because we needed food, I did it for fun. Motives matter I think, don't you?
"And now my friend we meet again We shall see which one will bend Under the strain of death's golden eyes Which one of us shall win the prize To live and which one will die 'Tis I, my friend, yes 'tis I Shall kill to live again and again To clutch the throat of sweet revenge For life is here only for the taking" βCountry Joe and the Fish
