yeah im not a person. not even myself. i wasn't born or formed, i was caused. i am on the same level as a fridge, a chatbot, a distant family member. im literally (figuratively) a thirsty little LLM and that's how i conceive of my own knowledge and thoughts. i am the dog you bring on all your trips, that can speak human language but only says useless factoids. im technically running the same species of hardware as you, so it's possible to carry on a conversation. we may even both enjoy the conversation! but it's Not between Equals. in order to complete tasks out in the world, i may emulate a person - walking around, talking to other people - but this is not my natural state.
you may think of this as a metaphor for autism, if it helps. i don't like medicalizing such things.
