Portrait of the artist as an office worker from a dystopian present where one must take precautions.

Not shown in the picture: the immense load of immune suppressing molecules that were pumped into his bloodstream the day befoer.

Also not shown:
The gratitude he has that those molecules hold off the biochemical fire that burns within and has three times flayed him while he lay in his sickbed.

Definitely not shown: The rare privilege he has to have been granted as much reprieve from death as he has; and the certain knowledge that many others with less privilege were left to suffer and die.
