So, I already talked about this a bit before but I wanna put my thoughts down in a better way.

Thoughts on a way to help people keep their timeline free from unwanted content.

As of now most people use content warnings to hide things that potentially upset or spook other users, the reason why I believe this isn't optimal is that if this is the way we keep using we will find ourselves eventually neither adding content warning on everything or not giving some the same treatment, there's an amount of phobias we can't even imagine, some phobias are triggered even just by words without pictures and some phobias are very powerful.
Content warnings are just not the best way to go about this and should, in my opinion, be kept for NSFW (porn, gore...) posts or spoilers.

The better way to help one another keep our timeline free from unpleasant posts is using hashtags that we can use to filter content.
Why not just filter words? Because for example Bob has a phobia for spiders and can't stand looking at them but finds interesting spider facts. Filtering "spider" would remove spider facts too but filtering a hashtag for spiderphoto would remove the pictures, if drawings are also a problem he can just add one for spiderdrawing
Of course this only works if we take some time to be thoughtful, but the exact same goes for content warnings.

I came to this conclusion because too often I see people asking to put content warnings for this and that, even going as far as to say "if you dont do this I'll block you because I dont want to have anything to do with someone who doesn't care", but again, if we add a CW for every thing people asks then we will have the whole fedi be a CW, and those who don't know that a few users don't wanna read about that niche topic get blocked by default.

I believe we should work together on spreading this and making sure every fedi software supports filters rather than enforcing what is essentially censorship.

I would appreciate help in this, to make the fedi better for everyone, so a little boost to spread the idea would be nice :)
