I love fedi because there are so many of a very specific few types of guy and I enjoy interacting with all of them

In particular, you’ve got:
software engineer in their fifties or sixties who spearheaded development on a crucial open source project that can be found credited in the notices on nearly every modern device, and is still maintaining it, xkcd [REDACTED]
developer whose last seven toots read to the effect of “mrrp mew meow ow.” They are the world’s leading expert on parser combinators.
that one person who is all in on their passion project and is more productive on it in their spare time than you are at your job
privacy enthusiast that takes other people’s viewing preferences on this site (CWs, filtering) just as seriously as their ability to keep self custody of their data online
seasoned nonprofit advocate who hates the state of the tech industry and is not afraid to be snarky about it
writer that makes explaining tech look easy (jealous, but I’m here for it)

@be_far@social.treehouse.systems Where does a second generation linux user with a bachelor in paranoia fit in? Privacy enthusiast?

@aanee@mastodon.online will now and forever refer to my computer science degree as my “bachelor in paranoia”
