I don't like the use of "virtue signal" as a negative because we live in a society now where Nazis and fascists and racists run rampant and free because through silence they've come to be emboldened and think their views are acceptable, and their loudness and boldness emboldened other quieter secret Nazis into being more active.
I'm not saying we can defeat them by shouting over them louder, but I'm saying anything that clearly tells them they're not acceptable around your spaces is important.

At this point if someone wants to try to accrue fake internet points for saying or doing positive things, well, they're being stupid but they're still holding up a sign saying Nazis Not Welcome Here, and that's a lot more than someone doing nothing is getting accomplished.
So mock me for "signaling" if you want, but I'm making sure the concepts I value are clear. Or rather, the things I'm steadfastly against.
