At least 6% of people 60 and older (including me) have a vitamin B12 deficiency. Symptoms can include memory issues and confusion, feeling tired, depression, irritability, and/or difficulty in walking or speaking. The deficiency can develop at any age but the likelihood increases with age. The symptoms are easy to dismiss with โ€œwell, I'm just getting old.โ€

A blood test will tell you if you are B12 deficient. In many cases it can be treated with oral B12 supplements.
