I gave my last lecture of the year on Monday, which means my teaching duties for 2023 are nearly over.
I've now taught the first course of history in our high school curriculum for three spring terms in a row now. It covers the social and economic history of the planet, and because I'm teaching people who aren't likely to be interested in history for its own sake, I've tried to emphasize the "how we got here" aspect.
I'd like to talk a little bit about how profoundly that's radicalized me.
