From source: Summary View of plank road in sand dunes near Yuma (Yuma County), Arizona. Cars are in the distance. Notes Photographer's byline and "C-507" reproduced in photoprint. Title penciled on verso with "Presented to Jack McKincrurie (?) by John Rogers at Yuma Arizona Aug. 21st 1926 - thermometer 106. We crossed planked road Aug 19. This road discontinued and cement highway opened Aug 20th 1924. This range is 6 miles across and several miles long and shift first into one position and then another like the snow in our eastern blizzards. The road at times has disappeared under 20 or 30 ft of sand for a mile or more. Then a new section of road is built to fill in the missing link and its grade maintained among the sand dunes," and "Jack McKincrurie (?), Jan 20, 1985, Glenn & Hazel Shomaker gave me this picture, George A. McClellan."
