Within Safety Beyond Standard initiative, ELAC B L104 standard is developed
to reduce the threat of Loss of Control In-flight, by enhancing the flight envelope
protections availability.
The ELAC B L104 standard introduces the following main SBS functions:
- Addition of the Pitch Attitude Limitation in Alternate Law (PALAL) for all CEO/NEO,
except A318: pitch positive angle limitation is available in alternate law, in clean
configuration with settings function of altitude. Stall potential situation is thus delayed in
case of inappropriate pitch-up inputs;
- Flight envelope protections kept in case of system failures: in case of dual loss of yaw
damper or dual loss of Flight Augmentation Computer (FAC), flight envelope protections
are kept available, ALTN LAW is still displayed on Electronic Centralized Aircraft
Monitoring (ECAM) as protections efficiency is reduced.
