it makes me so sad when people say they don't like email, or email-based collaboration.

i
get why they feel this way. all the affordances of email nowadays are tailored for its being the awful nag machine rather than the constructive conversation machine.

but i need you to understand that email did used to be the constructive conversation machine. that it was possible to work with collaborators all over the world so smoothly. better than anything since.

we've lost that and i want it back.

politics, climate, good news for once

This is quite an interesting read. It seems that battery-based energy storage has joined solar electricity generation in exponentially outperforming predictions. To the point where solar farm + batteries is now cost competitive as baseload generation everywhere except, quote, 'a handful of petrostates'. And that exception's probably going away within a year or two.
