This week we're starting a new school year (10th grade) with my homeschooled teen, and the math and science books I selected for this year's curriculum are intended for college undergrads. Today we started on the math book (𝘌𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘦𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘳𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘦 𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 by Lial et al.), and they seem to be really enjoying it. The first section is on inductive reasoning vs deductive reasoning with axiomatic systems, and the approach is so refreshing after the arithmetic-heavy high school materials from previous years.

The mini rose (𝘙𝘰𝘴𝘢 sp.) we impulse bought from the supermarket is blooming again:

Ooooh I'd forgotten the Sterling Renaissance Festival was a thing!
https://www.sterlingfestival.com/
I'd love to go again, if we ever have any summer days that are cool enough that I don't just want to crawl into a dark corner of the house and never poke my head outside.
Sadly, climate change means I won't be holding my breath...
If I ever did get to go again, I'd love to get a dress from Holy Clothing for the occasion...

I had someone else unfriend me on Facebook*, without warning, and so as usual I'm overthinking in an attempt to analyze it. I barely know this person (we went to high school together), but they don't seems that picky (they have over 550 friends surely they don't closely interact with all of them?) and I can't help but wonder what inspired them to suddenly drop me after all these years. Fear of caterpillars? Button misclick? Sudden onset transphobia and/or homophobia? Winning the random number generator defriending lottery?
Just to be clear, I don't especially care about this person being my Facebook "friend," I'm just over analyzing what my sudden excision says about their perception of 𝑚𝑒.
(*The usual disclaimer: Yeah, I have a Facebook, it's the only way for me to keep in contact with high school or work friends/family members [and occasionally attempt to rabble rouse] without the horror that is actual human interaction. Adblocker, Friend Fixer, and using the friends feed keep it tolerable. 🤷♀️

I've been uncharacteristically productive today. Go me!
Another contribution from my teen, this sweet wee woolly bear (probably a Virginian tiger moth, 𝘚𝘱𝘪𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘢 𝘷𝘪𝘳𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢) found close to home:
