Time for a re- #introduction! Iβm Willa, a former #developer who landed in #infosec by way of cleaning up old code and helping build an #appsec program. After that, I dove head first into #redteam work and then into #penetrationtesting.
For the last few years Iβve been in #leadership leading a team of penetration testers. #hacking is still something I love deeply even if I mostly live vicariously through my team these days. I still enjoy a good #ctf or #hackathon, though.
Here in 2025, my career has shifted into Product Management where Iβm working on the tester experience for our PtaaS product. Itβs been a blast so far getting to use my experience being a practitioner, leader, and customer to build something awesome. π₯³
This lives rent free in my head: Cake Pop Demon Hunters
Chicago is rainy tonight. The sound of the city with its traffic, emergency vehicles, and booming echoes fills the void between bouts of thunder and lightning. It is good to be home again. Good to be wrapped in my own blankets. To sleep in my own bed. To finally be still.
Made it home. Thereβs several Reddit posts about my flight out there if anyone is morbidly curious about how it went. UA1989 was a trip, but our second pilot got us back in record time. Iβm just exhausted; otherwise safe.
Iβm finally in the air. Pilot managed to get us on a 3hr flight plan for what was a 4hr flight. We all got meal vouchers and $100 gift cards. Itβs not a ton, but it dulls the sting of being on the tarmac for 5 hours. Another hour and a bit to go and Iβll be back in Chicago. Phew.
Try number 3 is coming up in a few. Hopefully we can get off the ground, but the pilot is betting against it getting hotter which⦠is totally going to happen.
So much for leaving Vegas this morning. Plane was stuck on the tarmac for over an hour and a half, and now we are rolling back to the gate. Itβs too hot, too heavy, and they wonβt let us use the long runway. π«
If you have a flight today you might want to check your flight status. #DEFCON33
Good to see old friends still up to their awesome shenanigans. Sadly, I need to rest before my shift at Black Hat tomorrow. π΄
