…Before the protest, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan police said: β€œWe are aware that the organisers of Saturday’s planned protest are encouraging hundreds of people to turn out with the intention of placing a strain on the police and the wider criminal justice system.”’

Which is exactly what is needed when idiot MPs pass bad law sculpted by a reactionary Home Secretary propping up indefensible foreign policy from a Labour government full of shit

…When a government takes 19 months to participate in dropping food aid that actually kills people when it lands on them instead of doing anything substantive to undermine a psychopathic government it still sends military supplies to, I think we know who the terrorists are.

And it ain’t people holding signs or throwing paint

La Pethick, an 89-year old retired psychotherapist, one of 466 people arrested yesterday, is removed by 4 policemen.

For holding cardboard signs saying β€œI oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action.”

She and her fellow activists triggered the police into arresting over 120 more than the previous largest number of arrests in a single protest, thought to be the poll tax riots in 1990.

Also, programming is design. Which is why as someone who calls themself a designer it fascinates me.

LLMs are
not designers. And in no way close.

Design can be bullshit. But bullshit generation is not design

β€œProgramming is fundamentally theory building, not producing lines of code. We know this. This is why we make fun of business people who try to measure developer productivity in lines of code.

When you vibe code, you are incurring tech debt as fast as the LLM can spit it out.”

…It’s taken us nearly 400 years to go from Blaise Pascal in 1657 writing

I’m guessing there a lot of low-paid global south workers triaging chatgpt’s evident failings, to produce a slew of semi-automated Jira tickets that are constantly being reprioritised, in order to quash the most viral gotchas that it trips up on

Sometimes a Like means a simple, low key thank you: πŸ™πŸ™2

Sometimes it means ok, let’s leave it here. A kind of polite
πŸ˜’πŸ˜’ -1; or 😐😐 0

Sometimes a Like means that really cracked me up:
πŸ˜†πŸ˜† 8

Sometimes it means hell yeah:
πŸ’―πŸ’―

But in these advanced interfaces we now have a Like always = 1

…Can renewables buy us time?
Sure.

Are they substantially cleaner than fossil fuels?
Yes.

Can they in principle reuse their own materials for longer?
Looks like it.

Is any of this relevant without orientating finance and economics towards ecology and wellbeing within limits?
Nope.
