Spontaneous idea:

I'd like to send out postcards. To anyone, anywhere. If you want one, here's what you need to do:

Send me an e-mail to: postcard [-at-] theresmiling [dot] eu

In that e-mail give me:
- one word/ phrase you'd like me to incorporate somehow (could be the motif on the card, decoration I put on, or content of the text I write)
- one word/ phrase that is a no-go
- your postal address
- your fedi handle

Example for words/ phrases:
- like: cheese (I could pick a card with cheese on it (though unfortunately I do not own such a card), use my cheese washi tape as decoration, or write something about cheese)
- no-go: birds (no birds on this card whatsoever, not even on the stamp if I can help it)

Important info:
Let's start with 10 slots? Is that realistic? Will that many people want a postcard from a stranger?
I'll pick a card from my collection as close as possible to the words you give me. You cannot pick the card yourself, it will be a surprise for you.
I have art cards, promo cards, cards that came as a goodie with magazines, picture postcards, free cards, cards I bought. You cannot pick the kind of card you'll receive.
You need to be willing to trust me with an address that accepts postcards.
I am in Germany and will send anywhere, untracked (mentioning that just in case, it's a postcard after all).
I do not want anything in return. I just want to start making a tiny dent in my postcard and sticker/ washi tape collection. Like a
really tiny dent.

Edit, Feb 8th: To those who've send me an e-mail - I'll send the cards out next week. I've been sick and I need a bit more time. I'll send out an e-mail once the cards are on their way.

Friends,
Is there a good kind of course/ guide/ how to for learning how to use the terminal (I'm currently running Fedora Linux)
for dummies. No crypic abbreviations, no "run this string of code" and then no further explanation, no assuming I know anything but how to open the terminal. Something that starts with telling me what everything means that I see even when I first open the terminal. How to do the most basic things, before going into the more interesting things. One stept after the other.

Please tell me there is such a thing? I really want to learn.

I am taking part in the Fedi #PostcardSwap. This is the post for people who are going to send a card to me.

Hi,
πŸ‘‹πŸ‘‹ I'm very much looking forward to receiving a card from you.
πŸ“šπŸ“šπŸŽžπŸŽž I would love for you to tell me a favourite book or film, and maybe add why you love it.
βœ‰βœ‰οΈ I do not have any preferance in what kind of postcard you send. The one you pick for me is the perfect one.

There's a new Star Trek challenge around!
@AndorianSoup@mastodon.social had the initial idea to start a new one, and @HippieScubaSteve@mindly.social, @AlsoPaisleyCat@tenforward.social and I added our prompt ideas. Steve made the graphic.

I will post my answers right here under this post.
You can have your own tread, post as single posts, or reply to Steve's thread
here.
How you choose to do this challenge is up to you. You can simply answer the prompts, add photos, art, watch an episode, etc. There is no wrong way to do this! Except when you start to argue with people. Instead, use this as a conversation starter. Let's have fun!

Edit: There is no official start day. You just jump in whenever youβ€˜re ready. Also, donβ€˜t worry about missing a day or three. Do this in your own pace. The only goal is to have fun.

So, who's in?
Be sure to tag your posts with
#StarTrek31DayChallenge if you want them to be found easily.

β€žI wish it need not have happened in my time,β€œ said Frodo.
β€žSo do I,β€œ said Gandalf, β€žand so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.β€œ
