Thought this article from Low Tech Magazine was very interesting, and encourages me to think of ways to reduce temperature, besides just AC, during the upcoming heatwave:

@nix@social.coop Our homes are dead, lifeless things compared to the housing our ancestors used regularly. The storm windows and screens I find are almost all painted over and caulked in. Our artificial heating and cooling systems work in tandem, and most people don't complete the basic maintenance of changing their furnace filter (go do it if you have one).
The #solarpunk housing of the future will have more requirements of the occupant, but will also fit us better. The way we live now is a bad habit.
A #solarpunk #hopepunk poem from earlier this summer:
~
Deep breath
The most important rule is to
Do what you can
With what you have
Even if all you have is another morning
Another breath
~
Another poem from this summer. Our Rome may not fall gently, but it sure is falling. #solarpunk #hopepunk
~
For the same reason
The snow falls
The sun will set
The moon will rise
The snow melts
And we will not
May our Rome fall gently
As we remain
~
I do not dream of labor. I do not dream of work.
I dream of gardens. Dream of life. I dream of
time to spend with those I love. I dream of quiet nights.
I dream a dream so simply quiet, chaotic, small, and loud.
I dream of days of sunshine and of heavy thunderclouds.
I dream of insects, mushrooms, water, soil and air and fire.
I dream the end my working days.
I pray my dreams aren't liars.
