According to marketing people, that makes me an AI.
Thanks, @me@mysmallinstance.homelinux.org for pointing it out π

When the mail carrier rings the doorbell for a signature, it can be either great or terrible news. Today, it was great.
Thank you, @mwl@io.mwl.io

Companies are eager to replace engineers with AI.
Funny how management and C-suite roles are never part of the experiment.
If AI really excels at rational, unbiased decision-making, those positions should be the first on the list.
A short while ago I was explaining to a client the reason why his website has seen a very significant increase in load over the past few weeks. On many of the servers I manage, I see connections coming from residential users, yes, but mainly from unscrupulous AI scrapers that do not care about overloading everything. Someone on their side replied to me: "Wouldnβt moving everything to the cloud solve the problem? I mean... autoscaling!"
That sparked a somewhat "conspiratorial" thought. Some colleagues have told me that, with the recent surge in AI bot traffic, their costs have skyrocketed. Given how much money is being spent, and not earned, on AI, are we really sure this is not, in some way, planned or at least welcomed as a way to increase costs for end users of cloud services and funnel them into AI budgets?

Almost an hour spent trying to figure out why Flatpak-installed apps looked different on openSUSE Tumbleweed and Void Linux, configured the same way.
I just could not make sense of it.
Then I realized one was running Xorg and the other Wayland.
Needless to say, that was the problemβ¦

Ok, the Manjaro experience is nice, but it doesn't seem to work with hibernation on an encrypted disk. If you enable encryption and hibernation, it will hang at boot - you need to remove the splash screen to type the password once again - and then it won't resume anyway.
Back to Tumbleweed for now, switching to X11 as it seems it's something related to the amdgpu and Wayland (maybe a regression or some sort of misalignement).
