Anyone else out there doing sand casting or lost wax/lost PLA casting?
I'm having some ideas about using something like a laminar flow gating system, smooth spiral sprues from the pour basin down to the bottom of the mold, and am wondering if anyone else has tried this. There are some interesting research papers about it.
This is what I'm thinking about trying next. Pour basin at top and more or less tangential runner across the bottom of the mold, so the aluminum can run down smoothly and fill the sprue horn.
I'm trying to pollenate these by hand, both with a fine paintbrush and with a carved down toothpick
This bulb was a golf ball sized brown thingy last week

I had to go up to the mountain house to cut up a ten meter tall tree that fell on the house during windstorms. House is mostly uninjured, just very scratched and with some gutters removed. It's a pretty great place to do some outdoor work though. That's the highest mountain in Colorado in the middle.

Right hand drive Nissan wagon. I don't recognize this car body style at all. Really long and low like an old Bluebird.

Tuba Christmas yesterday. They had euphonia and sousaphones too.
I went out for a decent 40km ride in only moderate wind, and now I'm making a pretty industrial friendship bracelet for a friend from the sleeve of a shirt of mail I had hanging around.
